Jr. Roller Derby

A Kishwaukee YMCA is now offering Jr. Roller Derby for ages 7-17 for all genders. No skating experience is required. We will teach you how to skate and gradually build to learning how to play the sport of roller derby. This program will focus on skating skills and roller derby skills such as stopping, blocking, hip checking, and more. Participants will be divided into three levels based on age and/or skill level.

Level 1 is skating skills, and no contact roller derby basics. Level 2 is intermediate skating skills, and light contact roller derby game basics and strategy. Level 3 is intermediate and advanced skating skills and full contact roller derby games, with potential for inter-league games. For more information on roller derby, check out www.juniorrollerderby.org for rules and skill levels that will be taught.
