We are happy to report that we have met our safety protocols and are on track to move to Step 2 of our reopening plan beginning July 13! The information below is subject to change at any time as new information and resources become available.
In Step 2 of our reopening plan, we will open the following areas with restrictions and social distancing measures in place. All of our reopening policies and procedures will continue to remain in place. View them online at kishymca.org/what-to-expect
Areas/Programming to open July 13:
-Kid Zone/Activity Center (with restrictions & limited schedule/capacity)
-Basketball Gym for shoot around: no games permitted at this time
-Indoor Group Exercise Classes (with restrictions and limited schedule)
-Pickleball (singles matches only & limited schedule)
Reservations will be required for Kid Zone/Activity Center and Basketball Gym. Reservations can be made 2 days in advance. We will begin to offer Indoor Group Exercise classes with restrictions and a limited schedule.
Be on the lookout for more information as we get closer to reopening these areas.

We have an exciting update to share!
With guidance from the recently published Swimming Facility Guidelines released under Restore Illinois Phase 4, the Kishwaukee Family YMCA will be reopening showers July 1.
Please remember to bring your towel from home! At this time towel service is not available.
Reminder: The lap pool can not be accessed from the Men’s and Women’s Locker Rooms at this time.

As we prepare to reopen our facility on June 29, we are keeping our members’ and staff’s health and safety at the forefront. Therefore, we’ve made adjustments within our facility and to our guidelines for use. While we were mandated to close quickly, we are reopening slowly and in phases. Learn more about our reopening expectations below.
What to Expect: 
The information below is subject to change at any time as new information and resources become available.
  • reservation must be made for the wellness center, lap pool, walking track and outdoor group exercise. Reservations can be made 2 days in advance.
  • Modified Facility Hours (Mon-Fri: 5am-8pm Sat: 8am-4pm Sun: 8am-12pm)
  • Controlled access to the facility through one entrance.
  • Masks are required while waiting in line for your temperature check prior to entry
  • All staff and members will be required to have their temperature taken upon entering the building.
  • If you have a temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher you will not be allowed to use the facility until you are 72 hours temperature free without fever-reducing medication or confirmed to not have COVID-19 via a negative COVID-19 test.
  • All members and participants are required to sign a waiver prior to using the facility, one time only. To get to your reserved location quicker please sign your waiver (click here) before arrival.
  • Y staff will be wearing face masks/coverings, but know we are smiling from ear to ear because we are happy to see you.
  • Members and participants are highly encouraged to wear face masks/coverings in hallways and common areas when not working out.
  • Social distancing, minimum of six feet, is required.
  • Safety Breaks throughout the day to allow for total area disinfection.
  • High touch areas will be disinfected regularly throughout the day, with no less than one cleaning per hour.
  • Limited number of participants in the fitness area at one time.
  • Some equipment will not be available to allow for social distancing and disinfecting procedures.
  • Participants should disinfect equipment before and after use.
  • Participants should wash hands before and after working out.
  • Y staff will be stationed throughout the facility to assist with disinfecting equipment and to answer questions regarding new guidelines.
  • Amenities such as kid zone, rec pool, racquetball court, saunas, steam rooms, gymnasiums, and coffee and towel service will be suspended during Step 1.
  • Programs such as Indoor Group Exercise Classes, Preschool, Youth Sports, Swim Lessons, Birthday Parties/Rentals will also be suspended during Step 1.
  • Indoor track is open but requires social distancing and a reservation.
  • Kid Zone will be available in Step 2 with limited capacity and restrictions.
  • Water fountains are not available, however, no-touch water bottle fill stations are available. Please bring your own water bottle.
  • Rags will be available for cleaning however participants are encouraged to bring their own towel.
  • Locker rooms will be available for restrooms and changing, no showers. Locker rooms will be disinfected on an hourly basis.
  • Members using the lockers will be required to disinfect after use with provided disinfectant.
  • Participants are asked to stay in designated areas

  • Wellness Center
  • Walking Track
  • Locker Rooms for bathroom and changing use only; no showers
  • Indoor Personal Training in Functional Training Room
Areas to Reopen on July  1: 
  • Lap Pool

Membership Payments

Beginning July 1, all YMCA Memberships will be removed from hold status and membership payments will be reinstated.

Outdoor Group Exercise Classes

We will continue to offer group exercise classes outdoors. Beginning the week of June 29, all outdoor group exercise classes will be included with your membership payment. Registration will be required. Class sizes have been increased per state guidance.
