Clays for Camp Power Tournament and Shoot

Shotgun and clay pigeons laying in grass

Saturday, September 30, 2017
8:00 a.m – 4:00 p.m.

The Aurora Sportsmen’s Club
Rueff Road
Waterman, IL 60556

The City of DeKalb Police Department and The Aurora Sportsmen’s Club will be hosting Clays for Camp Power Tournament and Shoot to raise funds for Camp Power. The Camp was developed in 2014 as a free, collaborative summer program offered to children and their families living in University Village housing development. After the program’s first year, there was a 26% decrease in Part 2 crimes. After the second year, there was a 40% reduction in overall crime, a 13% reduction in calls for service by Police, and a 49% reduction in arrests. The most positive outcome has been an enhanced relationship between the children and the police officers. Now entering its fourth year of operations, there is a need to extend Camp Power to other neighborhoods in DeKalb. The goal of this event is to provide funding to support that expansion.

This fun event offers sporting clays and the opportunity to participate in side event challenges, a picnic lunch, refreshments along the course, and the chance to win raffle and silent auction items. The event caters to those new to the sport as well as veterans, so gather a squad or sign up as an individual and register today to choose your preferred start time. Walk-ins are also welcome. Participants will need to bring eye and ear protection.
